This German course (Bildungsurlaub / Bildungsfreizeit) is specially designed for expats in Germany who have already had contact with the language – perhaps through classes or daily life – but still want to improve their speaking and fluency.

It is suitable for false beginners and pre-intermediates (A2–B1) who understand some German but find it difficult to speak.

Focus: Communication and Pronunciation

The main focus is on communication, speaking spontaneously and naturally, with special attention to German pronunciation. Authentic situations stimulate the need to speak, with the right grammar and vocabulary provided at the right moment and reflected on later.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and you can expect to have fun while making progress.

The trainer supports you individually, adapting the course to your needs and to the group dynamic. You learn and progress in oral and written skills at your own pace, without pressure to keep up with anyone.

With no formal grammar instruction or testing, differences in levels are not a problem: no one is left behind, and no one has to wait for others. The group’s energy becomes a shared resource – everyone learns with and from each other.

You will learn to speak German playfully and joyfully. Some participants gain fluency, others confidence, accuracy or expressive range – always in an atmosphere of empathy and respect.

The PDL Method

The PDL Method (Psychodramaturgy) is a participant- and group-oriented approach to language acquisition based on scientific insights. Conceived in 1977 by Dr. Bernard and Marie Dufeu, it has been continuously developed ever since.

Speaking a language is a complex skill requiring many competences. In a PDL course you will not only train your German, improve fluency and expand your repertoire, but also develop the underlying abilities that together make up your “talent for languages”.

Bildungsurlaub – what does that mean?

This course is recognised as Bildungsurlaub (educational holiday) in: Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Berlin, Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein.

If you are employed in one of these federal states, your employer is usually obliged by law to grant you five additional days of leave to attend – provided you apply for it. Contact us if you would like to know more.

Die „Deutsche Woche PDL“ ist ein Intensivkurs, als Bildungsurlaub in Hessen, Berlin, Brandenburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Baden-Württemberg, Niedersachsen und NRW anerkannt (weitere Bundesländer auf Anfrage).

Der Kurs ist für Lernende mit Vorkenntnissen (A2) bis B2 geeignet – für alle, die ihre Deutschkenntnisse auffrischen oder die Sprache neu entdecken möchten. Freude am Sprechen und Interagieren garantiert.

Sie lernen ohne Kursbuch, ohne Tests, ohne Leistungsdruck – stattdessen lebendig, praxisnah und in einer unterstützenden Atmosphäre. Mit der erlebnisorientierten PDL-Methode machen Sie in Ihrem eigenen Tempo effektive Fortschritte.
